Unity in Action: National Night Out Returns to Queen City in 2024

Last October, the historic Queen City neighborhood in South Dallas, supported by DCH, and local law enforcement, experienced the spirit of community and collaboration during National Night Out 2023. National Night Out unites neighborhoods and communities across Dallas annually for block parties, festivals, parades, and cookouts—all in the name of creating safer, more connected communities. Last year, we had an exceptional turn out and enjoyed food, music, and community in Queen City and it stands in our mind as an example of what happens when a community truly comes together. The Park South YMCA was buzzing with energy as over 150 people gathered to celebrate and build bonds between residents, local leaders, and law enforcement.

In that spirit, we are doing it again!

Mark your calendars for Oct. 1

We will be celebrating National Night Out again with a block party in the historic Queen City neighborhood on Tuesday, October 1st from 5:30PM - 8PM. The block party will be held next to Salem Institutional Baptist Church. The neighborhood is the perfect backdrop for this night of unity, as its history is a cornerstone of Dallas’s past, and the event is a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration and community for the future. Dallas City Homes (DCH) will join forces with the Queen City Neighborhood Association, bringing together a diverse array of vendors and resources that catered to every aspect of community life—from education and wellness to financial planning and plenty of family activities. This event fosters such a synergy where different sectors of the community come together in a space of trust, friendship, and celebration.

Last year we were honored to have the support of federal, state, and local leaders, including Senator Royce West, Texas State Representative Venton Jones, and esteemed representatives from the City of Dallas, and it underscores the significance of the event. This year we hope to welcome even more leaders to be able to listen to and discuss Dallas plans and get input with constituents. These engagements underscore the importance of ongoing dialogue between community members and their leaders.
